JONES COUNTY –
It’s been three long years since the 30-year-old mentally unhealthy black man shed all his clothes and walked nude into the woods off N.C. 17 near Pollocksville. The Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management, the American Red Cross, the Pedro rescue helicopter out of Cherry Point and around 70 volunteers looked for Moore for a week. But when the flurry of activity was over, Moore remained missing. Moore was suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment when he left home Dec. 11, 2013. Investigators believe Moore was walking towards New Bern, but never made it passed Tuscorora Rhems Road in Pollocksville. Family told local reporters back in 2013 that they’re worried something nefarious may have happened to Moore. At the time of his disappearance, Moore was described as being 5 foot, 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with new information is asked to call the Jones County Sheriff’s Office at 252-448-0035.
