A Sneads Ferry man has been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder after he sold a man drugs that caused the man to overdose and die.
Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating Jarred Michael Eddington for the sale of illegal drugs in the Sneads Ferry community. Warrants were obtained on Eddington, a 21 year old male of Everett Lane in Sneads Ferry after investigation revealed that Jason Sapp died as a result of the drugs that were supplied to him by Eddington. Sapp died in April, 2016 from an overdose.
Eddington was arrested August 5, 2016 and brought before the magistrate where he was given a $1,500,000.00 secured bond for 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Jason Sapp.
This is an ongoing investigation. No further details are being released at this time pending the completion of the investigation. This is the first time in Onslow County that an individual has been charged with murder after the victim died as a direct result of the drugs that were sold to him. The Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to reduce the sale of heroin and other illegal drugs in Onslow County.
North Carolina General Statute 14-17, Second Degree Murder states that “If a defendant unlawfully distributes opium, cocaine, or a derivative of either substance, or methamphetamine, and ingestion of the substance causes the user’s death, the defendant is guilty of second-degree murder.”
