Two injured in afternoon incident.
At approximately 1:54 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Jacksonville Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Myrtlewood Circle. Officers found two subjects suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, Manzell K Smith Jr, of Jacksonville, 26 years of age, was transported to Naval Medical Center, where he was later flown to Vidant Medical, where he is listed in critical condition. The second victim, Neino R Parker, of Jacksonville, 21 years of age, declined medical transport at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives discovered a fight took place between several subject in the area of 510 Myrtlewood Circle. During the fight one subject, Octavious Tyress Bryant, 18 years of age, pulled out a handgun and shot several times striking both victims.
Bryant was taken into custody at 4:27 PM, at 775 Jim Blake Rd Lot 6 Jacksonville, NC. He has been charged with one count of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill.
