Murder for hire in Onslow county

Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for his part in the murder of his father.

On April 21, 2014, deputies responded to a 911 call in which Elmer Lee Hudler was found deceased in his home. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot to the head.

Throughout the investigation, William Zachary Parker and Joshua Brandon Hudler were developed as suspects. Parker, 31 years old, confessed to shooting Hudler and stated he was hired by Joshua Hudler to kill his father. Parker was arrested April 24, 2014 and charged with one Open Count of Murder. As part of a plea deal, on November 29, 2016 Parker plead guilty to Second Degree Murder in the death of Elmer Lee Hudler. The plea deal consisted of Parker agreeing to testify against Hudler.

Joshua Hudler, age 31, was arrested November 29, 2016 and charged with one Open Count of Murder. The investigation revealed that Hudler wanted to collect his father’s insurance money and had hired Parker to murder Elmer Hudler.

He is currently being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under no bond, pending disposition of the court. Hudler’s first appearance is set for November 30, 2016.
