Ronald Zey was originally arrested on March 6, 2017 for multiple charges involving a 14-year-old juvenile. After further investigation, additional warrants were obtained for Zey for incidents involving the same juvenile. Zey was served at the Onslow County Jail where he was being held on the original charges. Zey was charged with 1 count of 2nd Degree Forcible Sex Offense, 1 count of Crimes Against Nature and 3 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child. Zey was given an additional $400,000.00 Secured Bond.

On Sunday, March 5, 2017, officers from the Jacksonville Police Department received a report of indecent liberties between a 14-year-old female juvenile and a 51-year-old male. Juvenile Investigators were called to assist with the case.
The juvenile victim was interviewed along with her mother who discovered inappropriate text messages between her daughter and the suspect. Investigators identified the suspect as 51-year-old Ronald Alan Zey. A search warrant was obtained for Zey’s residence and detached garage where items of clothing belonging to the victim were recovered. Zey was taken into custody without incident and was charged with 4 counts of Statutory Sex Offense, 4 counts of Crimes Against Nature, 2 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, and 2 counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Zey was given a $500,000.00 Secured Bond.
This remains on open and active investigation.
