Has a Local Serial Killer Claimed Four Victims?

ROBESON COUNTY — A serial killer may be at work in Lumberton where the bodies of three women have turned up and a fourth woman has vanished.
Abby Patterson, 20, was last seen Sept. 5 getting into a brown Buick on East Ninth Street – the same area where three women have been found dead. Within the past few months the bodies of Megan Oxendine, 28; Christina Bennett, 32; and Rhonda Jones, 36; were all found between East Fdineifth and East Ninth streets.
Oxendine’s body was discovered behind a house near train tracks, Bennett’s body was found in an abandoned house and Jones’ body was in a trash can. Their bodies were so decomposed autopsies didn’t reveal the cause of their deaths.
Get this: Oxendine was interviewed by a local news station at the time Jones’ body was discovered. Less than a month later, Oxendine turned up dead less than 500 feet from where Jones’ body was found.
Patterson is described as a white female with brown hair and eyes, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has a birth mark on the back of her left thigh and a bird tattoo on her shoulder.
The FBI has been called in to help with the investigation.
The reward for information about Patterson’s whereabouts or fate is climbing, having recently reached $10,000.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3846.
