MECKLENBURG COUNTY – The skeletal remains of a woman found five years ago in Charlotte remain unidentified.
Known for a white tee-shirt with a pink flower and the words “Virginia Beach, Virginia,” the unknown woman was possibly white or Hispanic, and between 20 and 40 years old. Her body was found in a wooded area along Statesville Road near Interstate 485 on March 17, 2011.
“Her incomplete skeletonized remains were found in wooded area a short distance from major highway,” according to the N.C. State Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the woman.
No fingerprints are available, but DNA and dental records are on file with the State Medical Examiner. Two women have already been excluded: Hope Curry, of Virginia, born in 1977; and Zoe Hope of North Carolina, born in 1987.
The woman probably died between 2008 and 2010. She had straight dark hair and weighed 110 pounds; her height cannot be estimated.
She also wore a Blue denim jeans, a black bra size 36B and Navy and plaid boat canvass shoes, size Boy’s 4.
The National Unidentified Persons Database ranks the case as having high identification potential.
