Body Found Along Highway 17
BRUNSWICK COUNTY – Authorities don’t know why or how the decomposed body of an unidentified man ended up in a highway median in Leland nearly 15 years ago.
The body was found Nov. 6, 2003, on U.S.17 east of N.C. 421. Investigators believe the man may have died as early as 2000.
He’s described as a white male age 55 to 75. His hair color or style isn’t known.
The man was wearing white socks, several strips of blue-green fabric with a tag labelled L42-44 Fruit of the Loom, and a portion of a hat with a band running from the right brim across the top to the left back with the words PB SPORTS and a metal adjustable clasp in the back. He had size 10 ankle-high black leather boots.
Fingerprint information isn’t available, but dental charting is available as is a DNA sample.
