On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Detectives of the Jacksonville Police Department, Special Operations Division, arrested two subjects associated with the overdose death of Morgan McKinney in March of 2018.
On March 2, 2018, Jacksonville Police received a report of a subject who had overdosed at 118 Broadhurst Rd. Apt. 630, in Jacksonville. The preliminary investigation determined that Morgan Wade McKinney, 20, was deceased and the probable cause of death was heroin.
Detectives with the Special Operations Division, assumed the investigation in an effort to determine the source of supply that caused the death of McKinney. Through the investigation, it was determined that two subjects sold the lethal mixture of narcotics to McKinney on the day he overdosed. Detectives reviewed the state toxicology report confirmed the cause of death to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl.
On October 15, 2019, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Zachary Foster, 22 and Marissa Kerr, 24, both of, Jacksonville. Their charges and bond are detailed below. They were taken into custody without incident.
“As we continue to work with community partners in efforts and solutions for overdose prevention, we will continue to bring to justice those individuals whom are bringing these dangerous drugs into our community” said Chief Mike Yaniero Director of Public Safety.
