Jacksonville man charged with child rape

A Jacksonville man has been charged with statutory rape of a child, along with several other sex offenses against a minor.
Onslow County Sheriff’s Office received a report in May, 2017 from Wilmington Police Department that 30-year-old Morgan Jeffrey Shepard had been involved in a sexual relationship with a minor. At the time of the alleged incident, Shepard was 29 years old and the victim was 13.
The case was investigated by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children detective and Shepard was arrested August 4, 2017.
Shepard, currently 30 years old of Firethorn Lane in Jacksonville was charged with:
Statutory Rape of a Child Less Than the Age of 15
(2) Counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child
Solicit Prostitution of a Minor
Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
Third Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
Shepard was taken before the magistrate and placed under a $600,000 unsecured bond.
